Christian Hawkey

Christian Hawkey’s most recent full-length book of poetry is Sift (Action Books, 2021). His co-translation (with Marouane Zakhir) of essays by the Moroccan philosopher Abdessalam Benabdelali, Writings on Translation, appeared in 2025 with Seagull Books’s Elsewhere Texts, edited by Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak and Hosam Aboul-Ela. The two poems that appear here are part of a longer series, titled The Undertaking of the Pearl, which write into and alongside June Jordan’s “INTIFADA INCANTATION: POEM #8 FOR b.b.L.” He lives in Berlin. Christian Hawkey ©Nicole Hennig
