Author Biography

Mieke Strand

Mieke Strand is a documentary photographer and emerging poet from Minnesota. Her photography has been exhibited at The German Federal Foreign Office, Urban Nation, Photo Frome, and The World Affairs Council, among others. She is a member of the Berlin poetry collective, milk tooth, which released its debut zine in January 2026. She holds a B.A. in Visual Arts (Brown University), an M.A. in Art History (UCSB), and an M.Arch. in Architecture (UC-Berkeley).

Her current project, Landscape of My Familiar, uses photography and poetry to explore the transformation of small-town America against the backdrop of collective memory and personal longing. Mieke Strand ©David Gross
