Author Biography

Jennifer Huxta

Jennifer Huxta is a photographer, writer and artist who is interested in how geopolitical shifts play out in an individual’s daily life, especially in the loss of homeland and exile. In the recent past, she has sought to explore this with journalism and photography, although throughout her life she has also written poems and other texts. About her work she writes: “I work intuitively. The work I have always done, across photography, drawing, and poetry, doesn’t fit in anywhere. I used to feel a lot of pain about this, but I have come to accept (and even enjoy) that my work starts in a place of creative not-knowing and I collect different parts until something forms, usually in my journals and visual diaries at first, and it expands from there into completed pieces. It is multi-media and multi-dimensional and it comes from various sources: family history, memoir, public record, hearsay.”
